Threshold Tending Blessing (Gift): May you find sacred purpose in the liminal spaces where transformation happens slowly + gently. May you trust that your sensitivity to transitions, your need for time between one thing and the next, is not a delay but a deep wisdom about how true change unfolds in the tender spaces between what was + what is becoming.
Botanical Observation: At the forest’s edge, where meadow meets woodland, the most diverse ecosystem flourishes. This threshold space—neither fully forest nor completely field—creates unique conditions where species from both worlds can thrive together, and entirely new forms of life emerge that exist nowhere else.
There is profound intelligence in these boundary places. The threshold doesn’t rush to become one thing or anotha—it holds space for both, creating something richer than either environment could offer alone.
Your neurodivergent mind understands this liminal wisdom intimately: those times when you need extra processing space during changes, when transitions feel overwhelming, when you require gentle bridges between activities or environments—you’re not being difficult, you’re tending to your threshold.
Neuroscience tells us that transitions activate multiple brain systems simultaneously—attention, memory, prediction, and emotional regulation all work together to help us navigate change.
For neurodivergent minds, this process often requires us more time + conscious support. What others might see as “difficulty with transitions” is actually our brain’s careful, thorough way of ensuring adaptation.
Our need for warning before changes, our preference for gradual shifts, our careful attention to what’s ending + what’s beginning—this is the sacred work of threshold tending.
Blessing in Hebrew: Berakah (beh-rah-KHAH) - literally means "to kneel." In ancient contexts, kneeling to present a gift symbolized offering something valuable with honor + humility. This imagery suggests that blessings flow from a heart posture of generosity + abundance.
Blessing in Ghanaian Twi: Nhyira (N-yih-RAH) - is both a noun + a verb, meaning "blessing" or "to bless." It is seen as a robust invocation of divine favor that brings prosperity, peace, joy, and hope to individuals + communities. Beyond personal wellbeing, the belief is that blessings are meant to be shared + multiplied within the community.
Reflection for Your Journey
SOULjourner,
Just as the forest edge creates conditions for remarkable diversity + new life, your careful attention to transitions creates space for generative transformation to unfold at its own grace- pace.
• What threshold spaces in your life have become places of unexpected growth? Think about times when you’ve been “between” things—jobs, relationships, life phases—and how these liminal moments have allowed new parts of yourself to emerge.
• In your personal tending, honor the grace-pace of your transition needs. Perhaps it’s the way you create ritual around endings + beginnings, your practice of processing changes before moving forward, or your instinct to seek quiet spaces when life feels overwhelming. What if your careful attention to thresholds is actually your soul’s way of ensuring that growth happens with integrity rather than urgency?
• In our collective tending, imagine communities that understand the sacred importance of threshold spaces—for individuals + for the whole. What if schools built in transition time between subjects, workplaces honored the need for processing space during changes, and families celebrated the soothe of unhurried care? When we tend thresholds together, we create cultures where transformation can happen sustainably.
Brain Health Awareness Month Benediction: May every blessing (berakhah / nhyira) flow freely—from reverence, from grace, from the deep well of God's generosity—reminding you that your brain + being are sacred gifts worthy of love + care every single day.
Amen + Asé ♡
